Dermaplaning
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment that is safe and effective. It will produce immediate results with no downtime and can be performed every 3-4 weeks providing smoother, brighter skin that allows for better product penetration and smooth makeup! This is the “red-carpet” secret that all of the Hollywood stars use to look fresh and flawless!
What will Dermaplaning do for me?
Removing up to 2-3 weeks of dead skin and vellus hair will provide not only instant visible results of smoother, brighter skin, but aids in reducing acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and allows for deeper product penetration and less chance of pore-clogging bacteria that causes acne.
- Brightens skin and reduces pigment irregularities by removing dead/dark skin cells
- Removes the facial hair that traps dirt and oils
- Aids in smoother skin by promoting new cell turnover
- Reduces the appearance of acne scars
- Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles
- Allows for deeper product penetration
Why Dermaplaning for Exfoliation?
For those who are uncomfortable with Micodermabrasion because of the suction or sensitive skin, dermaplaning is the perfect alternative. It also has the added benefit of removing the vellus hair providing the perfect canvas for your makeup... INSTANTLY.
Can anyone have a Dermaplaning treatment?
Almost anyone! We do recommend that if you have active rosacea, cystic acne breakouts with pustules or VERY oily skin that you speak to your Esthetician first. With a free consult, our esthetician will let you know the best course of action to have your skin looking it’s best!
If you use Retinols, AHA, topical prescriptions or other exfoliating methods, you must discontinue use 5 days prior and 5 days after a dermaplaning treatment.
Dispelling some myths of Dermaplaning...
There are many myths circulating about this type of exfoliation… here are some common questions (and answers):
Will my hair grow back darker and thicker?
Absolutely NOT. It is biologically impossible to change the structure of the hair follicle when it is shaved on the surface. Your hair will gradually grow back exactly how it was before the treatment.
Can I get a facial or apply products right after?
YES! Actually, it is highly recommended to have a dermaplaning treatment just before your facial or HydraFacial™ because it will allow for deeper product penetration!
Is Dermaplaning painful?
NO! Dermaplaning is actually one of the LEAST painful ways to exfoliate and remove unwanted facial hair! It is actually perfect for those with “mature” skin that may tear or burn with waxing and for those who are uncomfortable with IPL Hair Removal or Waxing.
Will Dermaplaning cause my skin to breakout?
On the contrary! Dermaplaning is an exfoliation technique that will prevent clogged pores (that cause pimples to form) by removing the dead skin cells that get trapped inside! It also makes any acne medication or products more effective because they can penetrate deeper.
Is Dermaplaning OK on dark skin?
YES! Unlike other methods of exfoliation (scrubs), dermaplaning does NOT cause microabrasions to the skin so it does not cause any hyperpigmentation. And, since dark skin usually comes with dark hair, dermaplaning is perfect for removing it all and offering a fresh, bright look to otherwise dull looking skin.
What is a Dermaplaning session like?
Your session begins in a comfortable, private room with a heated bed and soothing music. Our licensed Esthetician will begin with an analysis of your skin.
Our certified Esthetician will pull skin tight and use a sterile surgical scalpel to shave the surface of the skin removing dead skin cells and “peach fuzz”.
When your session is over, we will apply a light SPF Moisturizer (Sunscreen is VERY important) and then you can carry on with your day - NO DOWNTIME! Your skin may have redness for an hour or so, but it will go away revealing bright, smooth skin! Just like with any facial we don’t recommend applying make-up or adding product again until the next day.
How many Dermaplaning sessions will I need?
Just ONE for instant results! However regular dermaplaning will result in diminishing fine lines and wrinkles as well as acne scarring. We recommend coming in every 3-4 weeks for optimal results.
How much does Dermaplaning cost?
A stand-alone Dermaplaning session is $75
Added to a service (highly recommended because it allows for deeper product penetration) is just $45.
We also sell packages at a discounted rate.
